UK Research Office testing

Case

Panoptic developed for UKRO their first solution: an extranet with e-commerce functions in Microsoft Solution for Internet Business, combining Microsoft CMS for content management, and Commerce Server for user profiling and mailings.

During 2008-2009 Panoptic performed a preliminary requirements study, followed by an in-depth functional and technical analysis, specification and a usability test for the new integrated authoring, publishing and collaboration environment based on MOSS 2007.

The specification comprehends the following main topics:

  • Target groups
  • Site structure
  • Information architecture
  • Document management and archiving functionalities
  • Online collaboration functionalities
  • Web publishing
  • Integrated search
  • Interaction
  • Site design and user experience specification
  • Organisational requirements

The usability test was performed for a group of representative users in the UK as means of evaluating the usability and accessibility for the different target groups.
