To improve consistency and maintenance of the websites of its many divisions, Umicore decided to implement a content management system.
Solution
Because Umicore put forward very specific requirements regarding authoring, maintenance and security, Panoptic proposed to develop a custom CM on top of Oracle CM SDK (formerly iFS). Oracle provides an elaborated versioning model, which enabled us to implement the necessary QA workflows, complex user management (integration with iPlanet) and extensible ACL-security meeting the security model’s needs and numerous interfaces, such as HTTP, WebDAV, FTP, and NTFS. The result allowed authors to get their job done from any location, using the tools of their choice.
Umicore is well-known for its communication towards it’s investors, so the investor relationship section of the corporate website was a key part of the project. To support this goal, we integrated the site with Euronext webservices to display Umicore share prices live.
After the succesful migration of the internet sites, Umicore decided to migrate its intranet to the same architecture.
This project included integrations with existing applications, such as a digital asset management system, HR applications, financial information and streaming media server.
